INTERVIEW WITH DAVE REIMER
Discussion Questions
Dave puts a slightly more positive spin on the people who hold power unofficially in church, linking it to their education or experience for example and saying that because of these attributes they can provide answers. Have you seen this in action? Do you see this as healthy for the church or is it a problem?
You may have noticed what Dave calls his “big voice” while listening to him, and chances are that you agree it gives him a natural power advantage. What other kinds of things have you seen that give people disproportionate influence?
Dave cautions others like himself who may, through no fault on their part, find themselves with power. Is it important for people to be aware of their power advantages? What might go wrong when people have more influence than they realize?
Dave ends his interview by talking about the power a congregation can have when they are unified. Do you have a story to share of something your congregation has been able to do because of its unified approach to an issue, opportunity or problem?
