INTERVIEW WITH SHANE CLAIBORNE

Discussion Questions

  1. Shane apparently considers Anabaptists to be among anarchists. Is that unexpected? What is he seeing that leads him to that conclusion?

  2. It’s unclear what Shane has in mind when he talks about resistance, but many Canadians in 2024 would likely think back to Covid and trucker’s convoy. What do we do if we resist government and then realize our resistance has attracted groups or resulted in behaviour we don’t want to be associated with?

  3. When one group of Christians resists government action and we strongly disagree with their choice, is it better to support them anyway because they are fellow believers, or should we publicly distance ourselves from them to “preserve our witness?”

  4. Can you think of an issue on which Christians would mostly agree that government is wrong? What boxes did (or would) it have to tick for us to agree?
