INTERVIEW WITH DR. BETH STOVELL

Dr. Stovell comments that the creation of Adam and Eve is not about men needing women, nor is it about marriage. It is about humanity and that we need each other. In a previous episode Layton Friesen seemed to suggest that the basis of human community is found in the relationship between a man and woman or men and women. Are these distinct and incompatible viewpoints or do they work together?
When you don’t actually feel like you need anyone at all, how do you convince yourself that you do? Or don’t you bother?
Beth talks about the role of shame in keeping us apart. Why or how does shame keep us from getting close to others and how do we combat it?
