INTERVIEW WITH DR. BETTY PRIES

Discussion Questions

  1. Betty stresses that we should be connecting with our culture. Has monasticism ever appealed to you or to someone you know. What is the attraction?

  2. Betty makes the statement that Jesus rarely talked about individual sin, but rather about corporate sin. Do you agree? Would you consider “rejecting the poor” an individual sin or a corporate one for example?

  3. Do you agree that Anabaptists “fear… the world rather than engaging the world through compassion and grace?” Does this describe you or your church?

  4. When Betty says “We're all on the journey. The world is too; trying to figure out what it means to be people in a time of history” do you think she’s blurring the lines between church and world too much or is this a needed corrective?
