INTERVIEW WITH DR. MEGHAN LARISSA GOOD
Discussion Questions
Meghan talks about the shift after Pentecost that “every person who follows Jesus, who’s been given the Spirit of Jesus is holding a piece of the church's ministry and mission.… Every person is qualified to speak on behalf of God.” Assuming you agree with Meghan, what does that look like in the context of governance? How would this be applied?
Meghan suggests that Anabaptists don’t take the calling and gifting of leadership seriously and so power revolves around the most forceful person in the room, or social and family connections. Is this something you’ve seen happen in congregations?
How does acknowledging that there are people gifted for leadership and trusting them with leadership prevent the wrong kinds of power?
Why do you think people might react to the idea that some people are gifted for leadership in the church and others are not?
