INTERVIEW WITH DR. BETH STOVELL
Discussion Questions
Dr. Stovell contrasts Revelation with apocalyptic literature written in the same period and points out that in other literature scrolls are closed and in Revelation, scrolls are opened. What does this tell us about how God wants to relate to us? How is that different from how humanity has tended to think about God?
Had you noticed before Beth pointed it out, that though Jesus is portrayed both as Lion and Lamb, it is the slain Lamb that is able to open the scrolls?
How does thinking of ourselves as victorious tend to make us hurtful? Is this inevitable?
Reflection: How difficult do you find it to be in the presence of people who are suffering? Is this something you would like to do better? What do you think would help move you in that direction?
