INTERVIEW WITH DAVE REIMER
Discussion Questions
When Dave says “Jesus is actually the head. We are actually part of a body that is actually connected to Christ,” he obviously doesn’t mean literally—we are not literally fingers or hips, and Christ is not literally a head. What do you think Dave actually means by “actually?”
If you have multiple Bible versions available (or a Bible app), check Colossians 1:24 in a few of them. What do you think Paul means when he talks about “completing what is lacking in Christ’s suffering (NET)?”
Is Paul applying this phrase just to himself or to the church, and therefore to us, as well?
To be scattered or divided works to the devil’s advantage. When you look around you at the church in Canada/North America/The West, how divided are we in your opinion? Is it at a critical level? To what degree are our disagreements a result of being different parts of the same body and to what degree are they about right and wrong? Note: if this question would trigger conflict or an opportunity to “bash” the other side, you may want to consider it silently rather than discussing it openly, or approach the conversation with care.
